“अमेरिका पढ्न आउन ४०–५० लाख चाहिन्छ?” भन्ने प्रश्न धेरै विद्यार्थीको मनमा हुन्छ। तर हरेक विद्यार्थीको खर्च एउटै हुँदैन। कतिपयलाई University बाट tuition support, stipend वा दुवै पाउने अवसर मिल्छ। यो मेरो वास्तविक अनुभव र तपाईंले आफैं funding खोज्न प्रयोग गर्न सक्ने checklist हो।
यी रकम र परिस्थितिहरू 2017 को मेरो व्यक्तिगत अनुभव हुन्। यो आज University of Toledo वा अन्य University ले दिने guaranteed offer होइन। मेराे package मा tuition support थियो र stipend लगभग $3,350 प्रति semester थियो; सबै खर्च पूर्ण रूपमा cover भएको भन्ने अर्थ होइन।
1. Scholarship र Assistantship एउटै होइनन्
Funding खोज्दा “100% Scholarship” मात्र नखोज्नुहोस्। University को offer कुन प्रकारको हो भनेर बुझ्नुहोस्:

2. 2017 मा मेरो funding experience
म 2017 मा नेपालबाट University of Toledo मा Civil Engineering को Master’s अध्ययन गर्न आएको थिएँ। मैले Graduate Assistantship पाएँ। त्यसबाट semester अनुसार tuition support र लगभग $3,350 per semester stipend पाउँथेँ। यसले मेरो आर्थिक भार धेरै कम गर्यो।
आज कुनै विद्यार्थीले त्यही रकम पाउने अपेक्षा राख्नु हुँदैन। Funding amount, terms, fees, insurance, living costs र application process—सबै University, department र समय अनुसार फरक हुन सक्छन्। Written offer पढेर मात्रै आफ्नो budget बनाउनुहोस्।
3. Official website मा कहाँ खोज्ने?

- Department page: Master’s वा PhD program को admission र funding details हेर्नुहोस्।
- Faculty research: Research-based degree चाहनुहुन्छ भने आफ्नो interest सँग मिल्ने professor को publications/projects हेर्नुहोस्।
- Undergraduate funding: Bachelor’s का लागि “International Undergraduate Scholarships” र “Merit Awards” खोज्नुहोस्।
- Deadlines: Admission र assistantship वा scholarship को deadline अलग-अलग हुन सक्छ।

Research-based Master’s वा PhD का लागि faculty outreach उपयोगी हुन सक्छ। तर हरेक program मा professor लाई पहिले नै email गर्नु अनिवार्य हुँदैन, र reply आएको वा email पठाएको कारण funding guaranteed हुँदैन।
- Professor को actual research पढेर आफ्नो interest सँग जोड्नुहोस्।
- आफ्नो degree, relevant skills र projects छोटकरीमा लेख्नुहोस्।
- कुन semester बाट study सुरु गर्न चाहनुभएको छ स्पष्ट पार्नुहोस्।
- आवश्यक परे concise CV attach गर्नुहोस्; एउटै generic email धेरैलाई नपठाउनुहोस्।
- Faculty वा department ले दिएको official application process follow गर्नुहोस्।
